OUR LONELY SENIORS

I often visit Senior's Centres to talk to the residents about writing their life stories, and you should see how their eyes light up when I tell them how much their stories matter to future generations.  
But most of the seniors just cannot imagine themselves undertaking such a huge task like autobiography without some assistance. Shalom Village in Hamiliton has a wonderful facilitator who helps the seniors with their creative writing and prose but most of the time it really is up to family members to get their seniors started and encourage them along the way.
Please, if any of you have older parents or grandparents, don't wait until it's too late to record their priceless stories. I hear it, time and time again, about how people wished they had gotten their parents' stories when they had the change and that now it is just too late.
Spread the word and keep the spirits of your ancestors alive with their spoken words.
